Autumn is a very special time at Marks Hall and every year we get asked “when is the best time to visit?” And there is no easy answer.
No two seasons are the same, each year brings with it different weather conditions triggering different rates of development. Last year the above average rain fall encouraged lush foliage which led to stunning variations in colour. Calm weather means the leaves stay on the trees for longer, providing a long-lasting impression, whereas wet, windy weather will knock the leaves off before they have a chance to develop to their full potential.
So, the best time to visit for autumn colour? Frequently and in any weather, make the most of the sunny days and don’t be put off by the wet ones, get your boots on, wrap up and get out there.
