A Good Weekend on Offer at Marks Hall

Published: September 2009
Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September are the dates for the next events weekend at Marks Hall.
The Food Market on Saturday 26th will feature a good array of local producers selling fresh and prepared meats, seasonal vegetables and fruit (remember Essex grown apples are in season now!), bread and cakes, wines, beers and juices, and ready-to-eat meals.
A special feature on Saturday will be a voucher for free tea or coffee for two issued to the occupants of each car arriving at the market.
On Sunday 27th September the Guild of Essex Crafts take over the marquee with nearly forty stallholders demonstrating and displaying a wide range of crafts, from the most traditional of woodturning and pottery to unusual textile work and differing styles of art and photography.
This is the time of year for which the gardens at Marks Hall are nationally recognised. Gradually changing leaf colours from the palest yellow, through gold and orange and then brilliant crimson add to the already vibrant tones of late summer flowers. There are still myriad shades of blues and purples in the Walled Garden and the planting attracts a huge range of insects, including many dazzling dragonflies and butterflies.
On both Saturday and Sunday admission will be £2 per car, which can be reclaimed from the standard admission fees to the gardens for those wishing to enjoy both the events and a glorious autumn walk.
The Visitor Centre tea shop is open throughout the weekend for morning coffee, home cooked lunches and wonderful tea and cake. We look forward to seeing you there!
