New Look For Events

Published: January 2009
We have a new look to our events programme for 2009, which features 4 major events taking place on the following weekends:
- Mothers’ Day Weekend: 21st and 22nd March
- Midsummer Weekend: 27th and 28th June
- Michaelmas Weekend: 26th and 27th September
- Christmas Market Weekend: 12th and 13th December
On all these Saturdays there will be Food Markets which will feature the most popular of our previous Farmers’ Market producers, as well as a variety of new stallholders with a wider range of products and ideas. Tastings and demonstrations are planned and watch out for news of special events for children.
The first Sunday event, on Mothers’ Day itself, will be Marks Hall Plants and Gardens Day. There will be a series of walks to introduce visitors to different parts of the gardens, concentrating, of course, on plants which are particularly appealing in early spring.
Nurseries and plant suppliers will be showing and selling their trees, shrubs and perennials ready for spring planting and there will be specialists too for something a bit different, such as exotics or alpines. Pots and wood products are not forgotten, there is even a stall devoted entirely to items made from re-cycled materials.
For many visitors the highlight of the day will be special guest, Christine Walkden, known as ‘The One Show’ gardener. Christine will be doing a demonstration of ‘Seed Sowing Techniques’, at just the right time of year, of course, and also leading a Question and Answer session.
