Cercidiphyllum japonicum

Published: September 2007

Is a deciduous tree native to Japan, commonly known as Katsura Tree. They typically colour well in autumn and ours is looking fantastic at the moment with its combination of small pale yellow and smoky-pink leaves. The dying leaves emit a gorgeous fragrance similar to that of bonfire toffee or caramelised sugar. Cercidiphyllum japonicum can be seen at Marks Hall in the Millennium walk.
