Cornus kousa 'Satomi'

Published: June 2011
Is commonly known as the flowering dogwood and originates in Japan, Korea and China. It is used extensively for ornamental effect with the tiny green flowers appearing in early summer, surrounded by large pink flower bracts, with the leaves turning a crimson colour in autumn. The tree was named after famed nurseryman Akira Shibamichi's granddaughter. Our collection of Cornus kousa can be seen at Marks Hall in the Korean Glade.
