Hamamelis

Published: February 2009
The Hamamelis, commonly known as witch hazel are having a good year for flowers. Witch hazels relish a cold spell which promotes flowering and this year these started flowering around Christmas and are still going strong. Their delicate and aromatic perfume is wafted round the grove. The flowers are extremely hardy and will survive being frozen solid. They can be seen at Marks Hall just before the Birkett Long Millennium Walk.
