Can be seen here at Marks Hall behind the Walled Garden.  (hybrid larch) are one of my favourite signs of spring and often missed by the casual observer.  These female flowers develop into the cones. They vary from pale green to deep crimson or purple in colour, often looking like a small pineapple or raspberry.  Wind pollinated, the  male cones appear as smaller structures often seen to be yellow with pollen andLarix x urolepise
