Stachyurus praecox

Published: April 2006

Stachyurus praecox is a shrub native to Japan and the Himalayas.  Spikes appear on the reddish-brown stems before the leaves emerge and then fall in the Autumn. The flowers appear from February to March with up to 24 yellow blooms on a stem and will last well into April.   The Stachyurus praecox is in bloom now and can be seen in the Walled Garden at Marks Hall.
