Arborist / Estate Worker


Salary: £21,000 (f/t 37.5 hrs/wk.)

A vacancy has arisen for an Arborist / Estate Worker to assist in the maintenance and development of the gardens and arboretum at Marks Hall. Work will involve the day to day care of woody and herbaceous material, new plantings and the management of a wide range of grass swards and conservation areas.  As part of a small team the postholder will undertake all necessary tasks and operations under instruction to ensure the arboretum and gardens are presented to a high professional standard for the enjoyment of visitors.


The post holder will also be expected to assist in all aspects of tree work which will involve work from rope, section felling, and grounding. Significant practical experience of tree surgery will therefore be required and NPTC qualifications CS38 (Climb trees and perform Aerial rescue), CS39 (Using a Chainsaw from a rope and harness), or equivalent must be held.


The Arborist / Estate Worker will also assist in managing the Trust’s extensive woodlands and to help process and deliver firewood when needed.


The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, passionate individual with an eye for attention to detail and have the ability to communicate with a wide range of people, including the public. Experience of working effectively as part of a team is required.
