We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working horticulturalist to join our team, who ideally has at least 2 years large garden experience. The right candidate will be a practical person who has a sound knowledge of horticultural skills with a relevant qualification in horticulture.

This is a part time role, totalling 16 hours per week and initially this post will be on a fixed term contract for a period of 6 months.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Horticulturalist / Propagator in the planning, development and maintenance of the Walled Garden and Coach House garden, as focal points of Marks Hall Arboretum; and the management of the nursery unit including the production of propagated material for the Arboretum and Gardens.

Responsible for day to day gardening and maintenance duties including; pruning, staking, spraying, cultivation of a wide range of perennials and shrubs; sowing and raising annuals for the continuity of display throughout the year; and propagation of herbaceous and woody material particularly from seed in the nursery area. There will be a supervisory role in directing and programming work for less experienced staff and volunteers.
