Exciting news!

Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum were recently visited by a volunteer Registrar for The Tree Register of the British Isles, an organisation which records and holds a unique database of over 200,000 of the U.K's most notable Trees.

The trees are measured for height and girth (a measurement defined as 1.5m above ground level).

As a result of this visit we are extremely proud to announce that the Arboretum at Marks Hall is now home to 3 National Champions (the largest in the British Isles for either height, girth or both) and 110 Essex Champions. A great achievement for a still young and developing Arboretum.  It bodes well for the future of the Arboretum and is a testament to all the hard work the Arboretum team puts in to the planting and aftercare of our trees.

You will be able to spot these Champions in the Arboretum by the Blue labels placed both on and underneath the tree.

They are as follows.

Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'
Eucalyptus pauciflora subsp debeuzevillei
Juglans regia 'Monophylla'
