The Wild Wood Found near the 18th century Walled Garden at the heart of our 220-acre Arboretum, The Wild Wood sits within half an acre of a former shelter belt of trees. Fun for all ages, The Wild Wood will constantly evolve and change as the seasonal work on the Estate continues and we add more features. Can you spot the mushrooms, fairy houses and other faces and shapes dotted around the wood? Created using offcuts and leftover wood following conservation and management work undertaken by the team across Marks Hall Estate, young visitors and the young-at-heart can build dens from foraged sticks, skip over pine stepping ‘stones’, climb through lime, and see-saw on an oak. A ring of sweet chestnut poles holds up an all-weather tarp, forming a huge round canopy used for school visits and storytelling events.
